Whew! Glad that’s over

Looking back on 2020, I figured it was time to paws – those are Oliver Tolliver’s paws in the picture and those of you who follow my social media know I use them as a play on words.

I post some of his paw pictures when it’s time for some reflection. And there is no better time as we near the end of the first full week of 2021.

The previous year will go down as the most bizarre in most folks lifetime. Politics, war, natural disasters and the damned Covid mess. Lockdowns, stay-at-home orders, masks and small businesses suffering – lots of them to the point of permanent shut down.

Riots, protesting, looking and tons of violence and murders.

People all over the world getting seriously sick – many of them dying.

Did you ever think you’d see a year like that?

Everybody prayed for 2020 to end in hopes that 2021 would be better for all those reasons and more.

Pray that it is. Because it’s already off to a rocky start – what with politics, politicians, unemployment, and the virus spiking and mutating.

If there was anything good, it was and always will be the freedom to go hunting and fishing. Thank you Jesus for those wonderful opportunities. You know how much we need them, especially these days.

Fishing and hunting success was pretty good throughout the year of the virus. And there is no reason to think that won’t continue into the third decade of the 2000’s.

Right now hunters can enjoy targeting duck and squirrel, while anglers are finding good striped bass numbers in both states. Puppy drum and speckled trout are still biting pretty good, along with tautog.

And freshwater fishing can be outstanding until we get hit with some really frigid weather. Even then you can still fish any number of ponds and lakes and still managed to catch something.

Hopefully the stock market will remain strong.

And, hey, if you want one, it won’t be too long ’til you can get vaccinated for Covid and flip that middle digit in the pandemic’s ugly face.

Just do it while you are hunting or fishing.
